We, as humans, heavily rely on the verbal language we have created to communicate amongst one another more clearly. You most likely had to as you grew up spend years in a class solely focused on how to read, speak, and write in your country’s’ chosen language(s). You learned to understand it, the nuance of it, down to the grammar of it. All to be able to clearly communicate with one another and to progress as a species over generations. Just like every other species trying to survive and prevent from going extinct. We all navigate the world through survival mode. This is how we evolve. Different species use their instincts differently. This is why we must understand the animal from their perspective or experience to know what we need to do to then communicate with them and teach them.
Our approach to training dogs, is through learning how to live with us, how to be next to us, how to coexist with us in any environment (within reason). We prioritize their safety and ensure that the dogs feel that when with us. We encourage their prey drive (in the right spaces) and fulfill the instincts they no long have use for. We become their family, their pack! We take care of all their basic needs and more. Nothing should override the handler, anywhere you are. We show all different types of dogs, from all over the world, how to live in the human world and make sure they also get to be dogs. This essentially is the process of domesticating a dog.
